Smith, chief delegate of the United Nations Command to the Armistice Commission, read a statement of protest against Communist North Korea over the capture of the U.S. Naval patrol ship Pueblo. Smith demanded the immediate release of the boat while Communist North Korean Army Major General Park Choong-Kook, senior member, sat at his left.
